Boeing
777: The Technological Marvel (Jetliner History)

Paperback - 128 pages (June 15, 2001)
Customer Review
"Best 777 book so
far - title says it all" - September 19,
2001, Reviewer from Atlanta, GA United
States
The title of this book couldn't be more appropriate. The Boeing 777 is
truly a technological marvel, and the authors have done a wonderful
job describing it. Where this book differs from most is that
piece-by-piece, component-by-component the aircraft, it's design, it's
testing, it's entry into service, and it's future are discussed in
great detail, all the while keeping the reader entertained and wanting
to learn more. The photography is outstanding as well - the only thing
that would make it better is if there were a way to order copies of
the photos. Norris and Wagner have written some of the best aviation
books available, and this seems to be the crown jewel in their
collection. It certainly is in my aviation collection. |

Safety
Last: The Dangers of Commercial Aviation: An Indictment by an Airline
Pilot
by Brian Power-Waters
Availability: This title usually ships within 2-3 days.
Paperback - 264 pages (May 2001)
Editorial Review
Book Description
Airline safety in the earlier days.
Captain Brian Power-Waters, author of this eye-opening exposé, is a
scheduled jet airline captain, as well as a fighter pilot in the Air
Force Reserve, with 20 years of professional flying experience.
Writing from the point of view of a pilot, Power-Waters covers every
aspect of commercial aviation and brings the reader to the conclusion
that it is a much more perilous means of transportation than is
generally suspected.
You will learn how poorly equipped most of our airports are; how the
airlines write their own safety regulations and then succeed in
evading even those requirements. You will find out what happens on the
flight deck and the dangers inherent in even the most routine shuttle
flights. Power-Waters examines crash investigations, takes you on
spine-tingling reconstructions of disasters you probably read about,
and reveals the often-shocking truth of what really went wrong as
opposed to what you may have read in the papers. |

Very Practical, July 15, 2001
Reviewer: A reader from New Rochelle, N.Y USA
This book is highly practical. It is essentially a guidebook to many
important airports and the services and amenities they offer for the
delayed traveler. It is a unique and clever book. It is clearly
written and easy to use. I hope to see more guides of this type from
this lucent author. |

This is a great book
I am a
reading buddy at a local school. My little buddy didn't want to read,
so I bought him this book. Now when I arrive, we read the
instructions, make a plane and fly it. He looks forward to reading now
and has learned how important it is to follow instructions as well as
wanting to know how to use the index to look up his favorite plane,
who the author is, etc. |
